We celebrated Costa Rica’s Independence Day on September 15th, though the festivities started on the 14th. The children were part of a parade at school, wearing Costa Rican colors (red, white, and blue) and waving the flag. They marched to drums- which Anna Grace thought was very cool.
At 6:00 pm, everyone in the country stops whatever they are doing, and sings the “Himno Nacional De Costa Rica.” After that, children carry lanterns through the streets, symbolizing the declaration of independence traveling from Guatemala to Costa Rica.
Other “BIG” news for our family:
Caleb is officially off the charts. Growth chart, that is. We had his first Costa Rican doctor’s appointment, where he weighed in at 14 pounds, 3 ounces. He is literally off the growth chart for weight, height and head circumference. No wonder it has been so hard lugging him around in his car seat while waiting for a taxi!
Thank you for your prayers! What a blessing that he has been healthy and strong throughout this transition.
Love the pictures, what a little chub!!Love to all,Aunt Debbie
